Greetings Earth Parents, Captain Steve here communicating to you on behalf of Admiral Andrew and the whole Space Ranger crew in Trekkers. We are pleased to report that our 2009 voyage is almost over and the adventure has been an exciting one. If you think that was an inordinate amount of space imagery, my friend you ain’t seen nothing yet (fasten your seatbelts, you are about to launched into an asteroid field of clichés). In actuality, the space trope serves as a tool that helps the 4th and 5th graders (or Space Cadets as they are affectionately referred to) remember our theme Bible verse: Colossians 3:2 – Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things (NIV).
In Trekkers, the ultimate mission is to teach the students that the Bible is God’s special message for us, and it is with that focus that we have created a two year curriculum that navigates through the entire Old and New Testaments. What makes the journey somewhat unique is that we are focusing on how to read the Bible in order to equip the Cadets with the tools necessary to engage in Scripture on their own.
Stay tuned for new and exciting progams coming up 2010.
